Memorials of Distinction have over 35 years’ experience in stonemasonry and serving the beautiful counties of East and West Sussex. Our expert team crafts perfect gravestones for departed loved ones, whether it be a kerbed memorial, cremation memorial plaque or a custom headstone. We have a wide range of products available to ensure you have exactly the right tribute.
When choosing between cemeteries, it is a good idea to visit and ask them directly about any specific rules they may have, before you select from our range of custom gravestones, carved headstones or memorial photoplaques.
Sussex is home to a variety of historical villages and beautiful coastlines. The county offers a mix of green, expansive countryside and bustling towns. There are some spectacular views, as well as coastal walks to partake in after visiting the cemetery or crematorium.
Both East and West Sussex have good transport links to London and are accessible by both public transport and car — making it easy for friends and family to visit the memorial site.
After the pain of loving a loved one, contacting crematoriums and cemeteries can often feel overwhelming. To help support you, we have put together a useful interactive map. All you have to do is hover over each pin to see the contact details of surrounding crematoriums and cemeteries — this will save you the tiresome activity of searching online for phone numbers and addresses.
There are a variety of cemeteries and crematoriums for both loved ones and pets within Sussex, many of which have good travel links and are surrounded by beautiful, scenic areas. Take a look at our interactive map below:
Our standard terms for payment are as follows:
First Installment
20% Deposit when memorial ordered as above.
Second Installment
75% of balance plus burial ground fee payable when permit received from cemetery or church authority. Obtaining permit takes on average 2-3 weeks from first installment.
Final Installment
Final balance payable on completion (ie. when memorial is in place, approximately 16 weeks after receipt of second installment).
Most of our memorial designs can be manufactured in a different colour/material to the one shown. See our Materials & Finishes page for more information on what is available. There may be some restrictions placed on your choice of material by the cemetery or churchyard. We will be able to advise you about that once you tell us where your loved one is to be interred. The price for memorials made from non-standard material will vary from the ones shown on our website so please contact us for a quote.
Memorials of Distinction believe that purchasing a memorial headstone is such an important decision that it is not suited to an on-line ‘add to my basket’ type of purchase. There are also many variables in the process which will affect your order, for example what is allowed by your particular cemetery and whether your inscription will fit on the memorial you have chosen.
It is possible to order over the phone or by email using the details on our Contact Page where our staff will be able to help and advise you.
We also offer a home visit service within certain areas, which is completely free of charge and obligation. One of our knowledgeable staff will visit you in the comfort and privacy of your home to help you to choose a design, decide on an appropriate wording and answer any other questions you may have.
Any administration or correspondence with local authorities, cemeteries or church authorities is dealt with by Memorials of Distinction on your behalf – you will not have to worry about this aspect of the process.
