Memorials of Distinction have over 35 years’ experience in stonemasonry and serving the beautiful area of Cambridgeshire. Our expert team will work with you to craft elegant gravestones for your departed loved ones, whether it be a kerb set for graves, cremation memorial plaque or a bespoke memorial. We have a wide range of products available to ensure you have the perfect tribute.
If you are planning for a cremation or burial, it is often best to choose the location first, as there are often rules and regulations on which custom memorials, grave ornaments and traditional headstones cemeteries and crematoriums allow.
Cambridgeshire is often said to follow a slower pace of life, due to its long country walks and selection of quaint villages. If you are searching for a peaceful place full of countryside scenery, then Cambridgeshire could be a perfect option for a final resting place.
It is also important to select a location that is easily accessible for family and friends to visit. Cambridgeshire certainly has plenty of good transport links, either by train or by the M11 leading to London.
With a vast number of cemeteries and crematoriums within Cambridgeshire, it can be difficult to make a final decision for a suitable place for your loved one. To simplify the process we have put information on each crematorium and cemetery from Google Maps into an interactive map below, so you can find what you need quickly and easily. Just hover over a pin to view contact details and further information for that location.
Cemetery or Crematoria fees are not a standard price but if you tell us the grave location details we will be able to find out for you. Alternatively the cemetery would be able to give you the information directly if you prefer to call them yourself.
Once you have placed an order, the process of obtaining a permit is carried out by us on your behalf and is generally straightforward.
This very much depends on the size and material of your chosen headstone. We have memorial stones to suit every budget. If you take a look at our Value Memorials range you will see that they start as low as £865 and go up to many thousands for large custom memorials with lots of extras. If you are keen to keep costs low, it is best to choose a simplistic memorial design, such as the VR1 and base the length of your inscription on the free letter allowance offered with the specific memorial design chosen. For a more personalised memorial there are optional extras like photo plaques, statues and other decorative items.
The ground requires time to settle after a burial so it is important to wait before installing your memorial. A headstone can usually be erected on a grave six months after the last burial has taken place but a period of 1 year is most common. If cremated remains are interred in a grave, a headstone may be fixed after 3-6 months, as the ground requires less settling time but this can vary. If you tell us which cemetery/crematorium your memorial will be installed in, we can find out the specific rules for you and advise accordingly.
