We know how important an inscription is to help in creating the perfect memory, and here at Memorials of Distinction we have experience of providing assistance to those seeking the perfect statement to remember their loved ones by. Whilst we will happily provide you with any support you may need with your inscription, you can, of course, provide us with your own original message to inscribe onto the memorial stone, in order to keep it personal to you and your loved one.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many words are included?
We quote for inscriptions by character/letter rather than words. All our memorials include 80 letters for free but how many words this translates to will depend on your individual inscription text. Each character beyond the 80 included will cost £1.95 on Granite, Marble, Portland Stone or Nabresina. These would be cut & gold leaf or painted black/silver/white, if you require lead lettering please contact us for a quote. Additional inscriptions being added to existing memorials will cost more and are priced on an individual basis.
What colours are available?
You can order our designs in many different materials, the most popular being Black or Grey Granite. Some Cemeteries and Graveyards have restrictions on which materials can be used, this is something we would clarify before you place an order. Please see our Materials & Finishes page for colour swatches and more details.
What is the normal size of a headstone?
Standard overall height for most memorials are 2ft 6″ or 3ft but we can customise our designs to whatever size or material you need, subject to availability and approval by the cemetery.

It’s the little things that matter. Every member of staff that I had the pleasure to speak to far exceeded my expectations. Nothing was too much trouble, and the feeling of never being rushed, added to the overall good experience. We chose a pearl blue granite stone, which looks even better in reality. The finished result, including the cropping of photo to remove a hand and arm proved to be an excellent final touch, something we didn’t expect at all. So to say we are pleased with the overall service would be an understatement. MOD and the extended team provided an excellent service, and would highly recommend them.

5 stars does not do Memorials of Distinction justice. Right from the moment of enquiring for a brochure through to the memorial being fixed into place, their dedicated team could not be more helpful. There is no pressure from any of the sales team. Everything is taken at your own pace when you are ready. Nothing is too much trouble making you feel at ease asking anything regarding the memorial. Their craftsmanship is second to none and they have handled everything for us causing as little distress as possible with such a sensitive matter. I cannot recommend Memorials of Distinction enough.
